Favourite Artist - Tiffany Lin

Joanne Tod

I chose this artist because she was a new artist, I found through this class. I have always advocated for female rights and this artist mainly focuses on art that revolves around women and interiors like the painting I chose. She enjoys including meaning in her paintings like the one I picked out. Although this may look like an average painting of a bedroom and a mannequin with a dress on, it has a deeper meaning. The painting is a New England Colonial bedroom and alludes to a particular time in history. The reason why she put a yellow bow was that women would usually tie yellow ribbons around trees to symbolize their support of soldiers away at war. Elements of design include the sharp lines that are used in certain parts of the piece. The texture and contrast to create shadows and highlights are eye-catching. The textures hold power in making the painting look realistic. After discovering this painting, I looked more into her other paintings and I think they were all spectacular.
